The reality of glass annealing
To get rid of internal stress in glass, you need a very specific heat gradient. We use short-wave IR lamps because they punch through the glass surface fast. When you’re planning your system, keep an eye on the wattage-per-centimeter. That’s what controls your ramp-up speed. Sure, cranking up the heat density lets you use a shorter tunnel, but just keep in mind it puts a lot more pressure on your power supplies.
Why we went curved
Straight lamps are fine, but they usually leave cold spots when you’re working with curved glass. It’s frustrating. So, we started building custom curved modules that actually wrap around your workpiece. It’s all about the angle. By curving the lamps, the radiation hits the glass evenly, leaving no stone unturned. And we don’t just send you the lamps. We handle the wiring, the shielding, and the brackets. You get a module you can just drop into place. No more boxes of loose cables. No more worrying about a technician accidentally burning out a lamp during a clumsy install.
The honest trade-offs
Look, there’s a catch. Custom modules take up more space and cost more upfront than a handful of raw lamps. Replacing a single tube is also a bit more tedious since they’re locked into a precision layout. But here’s the thing: you save a massive amount of money on labor. Plus, your thermal profile stays stable. It’s a much better deal in the long run. One quick tip: check your cooling fans. Make sure they can handle the total wattage of the module. If you pack high-wattage lamps into a tight curve without enough airflow, you’re going to melt your wiring insulation. We calibrate the spacing to stop that from happening, but the airflow still matters.
