
Stop Wasting Heat on Your Barberan Line
If you’re running a Barberan curing line, you know the struggle. You’re pumping out heat, but the real question is: how much of that heat is actually hitting the wood? Standard quartz lamps are a bit chaotic. They throw radiation everywhere. If you don’t have a way to point that energy, about half of it just vanishes into the machine housing. You’re basically paying to heat up your factory walls.
Why gold matters
We use gold-coated reflectors to stop that leak. Now, I know “gold” sounds fancy, but it’s about the physics. Gold handles infrared reflectivity way better than aluminum or polished steel. While aluminum does a decent job, gold grabs those long-wave infrared rays and shoves them right back down toward the wood. It turns a scattered glow into a focused beam. You get more punch out of every kilowatt. That means you can either crank up your line speed to get more boards out the door, or dial back the power to save some cash—all without ruining your finish.
Getting it right in the shop
These lamps are designed to be simple drop-in replacements. We match the wattage and voltage to your OEM specs, so you don’t have to worry about tripping a transformer or overheating your electrical panel. But here’s the thing: precision is everything. If the curve of that reflector is off by just a few millimeters, you’ll end up with “cold spots” on your boards. We obsess over the geometry so the heat hits the entire width of the conveyor evenly. One heads-up, though. Gold-coated systems run hotter at the source. Because the reflector is pushing so much energy back toward the wood, the lamp tube itself takes a bit of a beating. Check your cooling fans. Make sure they aren’t clogged with dust or debris. If the housing traps that heat, you’re going to burn through your lamps a lot faster.
